Card networks write the rules that move a card payment, and each of these has an agent programme or a plan for one. Visa's Trusted Agent Protocol and Mastercard's Agent Pay are live in part, American Express's ACE kit is partly specified, and UnionPay International's APOP framework is its own design with no public specification.
